Posted by Mr. Shrek on April 16th, 2008

Jenna Jameson stars in the new film Zombie Strippers… but don’t stop reading, over-protective parents!

This isn’t your basic adult movie. Or anything (too) close to an adult movie. It’s more like a spoof of the pornographic and horror genre. Check out Jameson’s thoughts on the film now:

Yes Man Plot Synopis, Pictures

Posted by Mr. Shrek on April 16th, 2008

Yes Man, starring Jim Carrey, comes out on December 17. It centers around Carl Allen, a man who signs up for a self-help program based on one simple principle: say yes to everything for one year. Think of it like Liar Liar, just with affirmations instead of honesty.

At first, unleashing the power of “yes” transforms Carl’s life in unexpected ways, but he soon discovers that opening up his life to endless possibilities can have its drawbacks. It’s a lesson for all.

Shaun Toub Talks Iron Man

Posted by Mr. Shrek on April 16th, 2008

Iron Man PicMovie goers will recognize Shaun Toub from roles in films such as Bad Boys, Crash and, most recently, The Kite Runner.

In May Toub’s face will become even more well-known when he graces the big screen as the character of Yin-Sen in the long-awaited Iron Man. Movie Web recently talked with the actor about the project:

When you signed on for this role, how familiar were you with the comics and what kind of research did you do?
Shaun Toub: Well, beforehand, I didn’t know much about it, but when I was offered the role, I tried to dig up as much as possible. I remember something from my childhood in Iron Man comic books. I tried to dig up as much as possible, not that there’s a lot out there, but I was able to get something. It’s interesting that the information on the web was so different than what I thought my character might be like.

I didn’t want to do too much research because I didn’t want it to influence me so much. I knew this was something that I had to create, because there wasn’t much on paper and we were running against the clock, so I was trying to let my mind be free. It’s just the way I work. It’s hard to come up with characters, but it happens sometimes. It’s interesting.

What can you tell us about your character Yin-Sen, and how it might differ from the comic book?
Shaun Toub: Yin-Sen is a very important character for Iron Man. He’s basically responsible for saving his life and also sent him on his journey. He’s a very pivotal character to the Iron Man story. He helps actually create, he has a hand in the creation of Iron Man. I don’t want to give away too much, obviously.

The X-Files Wants to Believe

Posted by Mr. Shrek on April 16th, 2008

When it comes to The X-Files s movie title, the truth is finally out there. Or here, we guess. You get the point.

The big-screen sequel of the paranormal TV show will be called The X-Files: I Want to Believe, Chris Carter, the series’ creator and the movie’s director and co-writer, has confirmed to The Associated Press.

X-Files 2 Teaser Poster

This title is a familiar phrase for fans of the series.

“I Want to Believe” was the slogan on a poster Duchovny’s UFO-obsessed agent Fox Mulder had hanging in the cluttered basement office where he and Anderson’s Dana Scully worked.

“It’s a natural title,” Carter said. “It’s a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. `I Want to Believe.’ It really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith.”

What do you think of this title? We aren’t fans of the use of the first person in it.

Release Date Set for Avatar: The Last Airbender

Posted by Mr. Shrek on April 16th, 2008

A release has been set for M. Night Shyamalan’s live-action big-screen adaptation of the popular animated TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender. It will hit theaters on July 2, 2010.

The studio has, wisely, dropped “Avatar” from the title of the movie so as to avoid confusion with James Cameron’s 3-D epic Avatar, which opens on December 18, 2009.

The storyline of The Last Airbender revolves around a young hero who has the ability to manipulate the elements and stop a ruthless nation from destroying the three other nations.

Shyamalan wrote the film and will direct it. His fans can only hope it’s closer to The Sixth Sense than The Lady in the Water.

Reel Movie Reviews: The Forbidden Kingdom

Posted by Mr. Shrek on April 16th, 2008

Starring Jackie Chan and Jet Li, The Forbidden Kingdom certainly looks to be a must-see for anyone interested in martial arts.

But what about those that enjoy a sensible plot? Intelligent dialogue? Overall entertainment? A handful of critics weigh in on whether or not The Forbidden Kingdom provides all these and more, as well…

- The Jackie/Jet pairing lives up to the hype, resulting in one of the best family adventure tales of recent memory.ReelzChannel

- While top-billed duo do indeed occupy plenty of screen time, this is basically the latest version of that post-Star Wars fantasy concept in which only a middle-class white teenage boy can save the universe from, y’know, Evil.Variety

- An incredibly entertaining and satisfying action flick well worth the wait to finally see these two martial arts masters work together.ComingSoon.net

- Once past the clunky prologue, the film is great fun, with a good balance between computer effects and athleticism. New York Magazine

TV Guide Interview: A Tale of Two Spocks

Posted by Mr. Shrek on April 16th, 2008

As buzz about the new Star Trek movie continues around the Internet, TV Guide caught up with a pair of Spocks at the Grand Slam XVI Sci Fi Summit in Burbank, California.

imgservlet.png Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy will each take on the iconic role, with Quinto receiving the bulk of screen time as a younger version of the Star Trek crew mate. Here are excerpts from the recent interview with both stars:

TV Guide: Zachary, what kind of questions did you have for Leonard?
Zachary Quinto: They came up as things evolved. The process that I went through to play this part was very internal and private, but in terms of what we’re getting into today, I couldn’t ask for a better introduction to the experience and to the fans than to engage in it with him here by my side. It’s literally unbelievable.

TV Guide: Can the Star Trek life experience be described, Leonard?
Leonard Nimoy: Not in a word. It’s been a long, long road for me. I first got involved in 1964, about 44 years ago, and it’s had the ups and downs of a very long relationship. There were times when it was fantastic, and there were times when it was dismal, painful. There have been times of struggle, times of questioning — What are we into and what should we do next?

Should we do anything about this and why don’t we just stop? And then suddenly there’s a revival and it gets exciting again. It’s a long and very, very interesting ride and now I really feel that I can let it go personally and watch it go off in a very good direction.

TV Guide: When J.J. approached you, what were your thoughts about reviving the character?
Nimoy: I was very flattered. I respect [Abrams] a lot. I respect his work. And he was very flattering with his thoughts about Star Trek and my involvement in it and what I might be able to contribute to the next film. We had a couple of exciting and very interesting meetings. He then sent me a script and it was unlike anything I had ever read before, Star Trek or otherwise.

It was just so loaded with exciting ideas on a big scale and action and great characterizations. I said to him, “I think you’ve got the characters wonderfully, but I’d be lying to you if I said I understood everything I just read.” We talked a little about my questions, about what was happening, and I signed on. Obviously I’m very glad I did, because I think it’s going to be a great movie.

Danielle Panabaker Cast in Friday the 13th Movie

Posted by Mr. Shrek on April 16th, 2008

We’re guessing this means reports of Amanda Righetti being cast as the female lead for the next Friday the 13th movie were false. Sorry for the tease, OC fans.

The Hollywood Reporter is stating that little-known actress Danielle Panabaker has been cast in the role instead. She joins a cast that includes Jonathan Sadowski, Travis van Winkle, Aaron Yoo and Derek Mears (as Jason).

The film is scheduled for a February 13, 2009 release.

Panabaker will portray the adventurous, athletic girlfriend of van Winkle, who plays a rich alpha male type that gathers everyone together.

She most recently appeared opposite Kevin Costner in Mr. Brooks. We’ll try not to hold that against her.
