The Wackness, Wanted Soundtrack Added to Site

Posted by Mr. Shrek on June 30th, 2008

Wanted has broken the box office record for an R-rated movie opening in June.

That’s largely due to the fast-placed plot, action sequences and, well, Angelina Jolie.

But the Wanted movie soundtrack adds to the film’s appeal, as well. Follow our link now to check out its song list and make a purchase.

A Bare Back

This photo pretty much summarizes the main reason to see Wanted. But the film’s score nicely adds to the action and suspense.

We’ve also wadded The Wackness soundtrack to our site. Buy it now before this dark comedy hits theaters nationwide in August.

Ben Kingsley Speaks on Shutter Island

Posted by Mr. Shrek on June 30th, 2008

Ben Kingsley is set to appear as Dr. Squires in The Wackness, a dark comedy that comes out nationwide in August.

Following that part, the Academy Award winner will take on the role of a psychiatrist again in Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island.

“I play another psychiatrist, but very different from Dr. Squires. Very sober, very against the use of drugs in therapy, and also very against the use of surgical intervention in therapy,” said Kingsley.

As for his costar in Shutter Island, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kingsley simply said: “He and I have some very, very strong scenes together.”

More Stars Set to Whip It

Posted by Mr. Shrek on June 30th, 2008

Marcia Gay Harden, Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis and Zoe Bell will all join Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore in Whip It!, the roller derby comedy that marks the feature directorial debut by Barrymore.

Reports say Harden will portray an overbearing ex-beauty queen who would rather see her daughter, Bliss (Page), in pageants than skates. Wiig then plays Bliss’ rowdy mentor, Malice in Wonderland.

Lewis is Dinah Might, the star of Austin’s top team. Bell takes on the role of a medical technician moonlighting as derby star Bloody Holly.

Resident Evil 4 Planned

Posted by Mr. Shrek on June 30th, 2008

Director Paul W.S. Anderson told MTV News that Resident Evil: Extinction likely will not be his last in the big screen adaption of this franchise.

“I’m just starting to talk to Sony about [Resident Evil 4],” Anderson said. “I don’t even know if anything will come of it, but there’s a possibility it might happen.”

A fourth film would seem like a sure thing given the ending of the third, which saw Alice (Milla Jovovich) beside herself with rage, promising to travel to the Umbrella Corporation’s headquarters in Japan.

However, Anderson, who write the first three films, says a concrete story hasn’t yet been decided upon. He’s still trying to determine a plausible direction for a fourth installment.

“I love the Resident Evil franchise and we always try to make the best possible movie we can. If we could find a good Resident Evil 4 to make, then we would do it,” he said. “But I wouldn’t just do it for the sake of it, that’s for sure.”

Another Confirmation of an Arrested Development Movie

Posted by Mr. Shrek on June 30th, 2008

Talk of an Arrested Development movie is quickly moving from movie rumor to movie fact.

Stars Jason Bateman and Will Arnett have already gone on record in favor of the flick. Now, Jeffrey Tambor has confirmed reports that a movie version of the Emmy-winning Fox comedy is in the works.

“After months of speculation. I think we have finally figured out for sure that we are indeed doing an Arrested Development movie,” Tambor told Entertainment Weekly. “I am very excited about that. I love that cast and crew and I felt like we had more to say.”

The series, which aired for three seasons, starred Bateman, Arnett, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Walter and Michael Cera.

‘Resident Evil 4’ Likely, Says Director Paul W.S. Anderson

Posted by Shawn Adler on June 30th, 2008

Like the undead themselves, modern zombie movies keep coming and coming. Get ready for at least one more, Paul W.S. Anderson told MTV News.

Well, maybe.

“Resident Evil: Extinction,” the third video-game to big screen adaptation in the popular series will likely not be the last, Anderson said, although talks for a fourth film are still in the very earliest stages of development.

“I’m just starting to talk to Sony about it,” Anderson confessed. “I don’t even know if anything will come of it, but there’s a possibility it might happen.”

It would seem like a sure thing given the ending of “Extinction,” which saw Alice (Milla Jovovich) beside herself with rage — literally, thanks to hundreds of perfect clones - promising to travel to the Umbrella Corporation’s headquarters in Japan. But Anderson, who scripted the first three films, says a concrete story hasn’t yet been decided upon. In fact, it’s coming up with a plausible, kick-ass story that’s momentarily holding him up.

“I love the ‘Resident Evil’ franchise and we always try to make the best possible movie we can. If we could find a good ‘Resident Evil 4’ to make, then we would do it,” he said. “But I wouldn’t just do it for the sake of it, that’s for sure.”

So now we’re throwing it out to you: Think “Resident Evil 4” should be made? And, if so, tell us what you think the story should be. Sound off below.

The new James Bond trailer is finally here, and Bond appears to go rogue, a plotline last explored in “License to Kill” in 1989. From the 2-minute trailer, “Quantum of Solace” may seem to borrow visual elements from the “Bourne” franchise, but Bond’s motivation is very different and very dangerous: revenge.

Car chases, plane chases, boat chases … too “Bourne”? Not enough? Give us your thoughts below!

After two years in development, Mark Wahlberg and Darren Aronofsky’s long gestating boxing biopic on underdog champion “Irish” Micky Ward is finally going to begin shooting in October, the star told MTV News.

“I’ve been training for two years now. I’m ready,” he said. “I want to look like a champ, not a chump.”

But Wahlberg has more than just a few moves to his credit these days, he’s also got a healthy dose of fighting words for anybody who thinks that what the world needs least right now is another boxing movie.

Yes, there have been many classic movies to center on the sport, Wahlberg admits, and, yes, he told us last year, he’d of course like it to hold up to “Raging Bull,” the undisputed champion of the genre.

But ultimately, his performance as Micky Ward in “The Fighter” is for an audience of one, he said smiling — Micky Ward.

“I want to do him proud. The guy did everything I wish I could have done. He came from nothing, went on to win the world title with all the odds stacked against him. Did it with his mother and his brother,” Wahlberg grinned. “He’s still in the same town to this day. He’s got a regular job. He knows that I’m going to put it all on the line for him. Mickey Ward is going to be [on set, watching me] every single day.”

Co-starring Brad Pitt, “The Fighter” will follow Ward and his brother from their beginnigs in Lowell, Massachusetts to their world championship bouts. It is tentatively scheduled for release next year.

We know “Raging Bull” is the best boxing movie — what’s the worst? And where do you think “The Fighter” will fall on the list? Sound off on your thoughts for the film below.

Seth Rogan Speaks on The Green Hornet

Posted by Mr. Shrek on June 30th, 2008

While his casting is still stirring debate among fans of The Green Hornet, Seth Rogen was recently asked what he liked about that comic book character.

Here’s his reply:

We’ve always wanted to make this hero sidekick movie. That was always an unexplored area to us and for years we’ve actually been trying to write a movie that was about a hero and his sidekick and then when we heard that “The Green Hornet” movie was up for grabs we thought that could be the most perfect way to do this story because he is the only kind of hero who’s sidekick is actually more known than he is.

We kind of thought that it would be a good way to tell this relationship story and just do a big crazy action movie basically.

Fans are still debating the merits of Seth Rogen as The Green Hornet.

Commentary from Kit Kittredge Cast

Posted by Mr. Shrek on June 30th, 2008

Kit Kittredge is more than an American Girl. She’s the star of a doll line and a movie!

How people can say that?

In a recent interview with ComingSoon.net, costar Chris O’Donnell talked about the maturity of the young actress that portrays Kittredge, Abigail Breslin.

“She’s got such a great attitude about the whole thing because (doing interviews) is the hardest work you do in the whole thing,” O’Donnell said. “She couldn’t be more professional and she knows what she’s doing.”

Breslin herself gushed about dressing up in Kit’s signature outfits.

“It was cool, because I’d never done a period movie,” she said. “Once you got hair, make-up and wardrobe, and on the set, it was sort of like you were back in that time. I got to keep the overalls, which was really cool, because I love the overalls.”

Jason Bateman Weighs In On Future Of ‘Hancock’

Posted by Brian Jacks on June 30th, 2008

Jason Bateman would like the “Hancock” filmmakers to know one thing: if/when a sequel gets underway, he’s got a few ideas he’d like to throw their way. At least, that’s what the star told us when he sat down for a live Q&A with MTV News held at Sony Style store in New York City. Chief among his proposals? “I can fly!” he enthused. Ben Kingsley Took Pot Lessons for The Wackness

Posted by Mr. Shrek on June 30th, 2008

Should it really come as a shock that Ghandi doesn’t do drugs?

Sir Ben Kingsley - who an Oscar for his portrayal of the spiritual and political leader - reportedly had to be shown how to smoke pot for his role in The Wackness.

Dr. Jeffrey Squires

Kingsley stars as a marijuana-addicted therapist in the film, but director Jonathan Levine told the New York Daily News that the actor had to be given instruction on how to make his inhalation look realistic.

“I had to teach him how to properly hit a bong,” Levine said. “It’s kind of like herbal tobacco. It doesn’t taste great or smell great, either. I felt bad for everyone’s lungs.”
